Mathias Gredal Nørvig is the Chief Executive Officer of SYBO, the mobile games studio behind the hit game Subway Surfers. Originally joining the company as Managing Director in 2014, Nørvig was named CEO in 2017. Under his leadership, SYBO has grown into a leading games developer and publisher that places purpose-driven initiatives at its core – reflecting Nørvig’s own passion for green and social initiatives.Nørvig is a firm believer that games are much more than entertainment. With around 150 million monthly active players, he recognizes Subway Surfers has a responsibility and unique opportunity to use its reach for good. Nørvig has prioritized leveraging the game’s global presence to raise awareness and encourage real-world action – using the platform to support environmental organizations, promote carbon-conscious behavior, foster an inclusive digital environment, and more. Initiatives have ranged from in-game activations with celebrities like Demi Lovato that offset carbon emissions, to strategic partnerships with organizations like Milkywire and annual Pride Month celebrations.Prior to joining SYBO, Nørvig was a management consultant at PwC and a deal team member in institutional investment rounds, as well as a founding member of both the Playing for the Planet Alliance and the Sustainable Games Alliance. Nørvig is a board member at SYBO, NIMBI Gamelab and Funday Factory (serving as Chairman of the Board). He additionally acts as an ad hoc advisor to the Danish government on creative businesses and growth, and co-authored a book, “Gaming for Good,” on how games can spread awareness and inspire action against global challenges.
